NANODESK: Advanced web based tools to promote the application of Nanotechnology and safe use of nanomaterials in the plastic industry
The main objective of the NanoDesk project is the promotion of innovation and the transfer of nanotechnology in the plastic sector, favouring the establishment of stable relations between the companies of the sector and the entities of its technological scientific environment, as well as facilitating the business fabric and the scientific community has preferential access to a wide range of services aimed at introducing R+D+I solutions in the field of nanotechnology and nanostructured materials in the plastic sector
Targets
The targets of the project are the more than 6500 companies that make up the plastic sector in southwestern Europe.
Objectives
The main objective of the project is the creation of an advanced web tool that allows the promotion of nanotechnology and nanomaterials in the plastic sector. Within this main activity, a series of activities are included that focus on the creation of adequate tools for the development of the project. These activities are:
The development of an observatory for the safety of nanomaterials and nanostructured polymers based on a series of datamining tools, which will be integrated into the NanoDesk web platform.
- A set of four computational models for predicting the toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of selected nanomaterials (nanoQSAR models)
- A computerized application for the assessment of the exposure of nanomaterials in the work environment, the environment and consumers.
- A tool designed for the analysis and exploration of large volumes of information
- A Roadmap and a Strategic Plan for the Plastic Sector
