The ITENE research center will present a methodology methodology to avoid damage to Shelf Ready Packaging (SRP) through design at ISTA European Packaging Symposium, which will take place in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) from 26 to 28 September 2023
ITENE will be premier sponsor of this International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) event, in which, as an exhibitor, it will show its services to help companies to optimise packaging systems and guarantee the integrity of products in the supply chain. To this end, it carries out analyses of product protection requirements, packaging automation or distribution risks, proposing packaging systems that reduce the associated incidents due to, among others, under-packaging.
At the event, ITENE will also present the packaging for distribution testing it can carry out in its Transport Simulation Centre, equipped with innovative testing technologies designed and patented by SAFE LOAD TESTING TECHNOLOGIES. In this centre, the characterisation of distribution routes is carried out with data recorder devices, capable of quantifying mechanical and atmospheric risks, as well as the development of test protocols that simulate the distribution cycle, according to ASTM standards, ISTA protocols, or according to the severity level of the route.
In addition, in the framework of the international meeting, José Garrigós, Project Manager of the Packaging and Distribution Systems Unit of ITENE, will give a presentation entitled ‘Case study for the resolution through design of the most critical damages in shelf ready packaging (SRP)’. Specifically, he will show a methodology developed to reduce the damage that can affect pallets during the storage process of dried fruits and nuts.
ITENE is certified by ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) to perform 22 transport and distribution test protocols. It was also the first in Spain to be designated by Amazon as a member of APASS (Amazon Packaging Support and Supplier Network) to help vendors in their adaptation to the programme and the homologation of their packaging references thanks to the packaging certification tests for Amazon FFP. It also has 97 packaging tests accredited by ENAC and ILAC-MRA and based on the international standard UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
